Holi

March 8th is a special day in India marked by the celebration of Holi. I have heard about five different explanations of what Holi is in celebration of what I  know for sure is a spring time colour festival, messy, and fun.

It starts out a few days ahead of the 8th with family celebrations and huge fires on the night of the 7th. After the first fires were lit I heard constant singing in the streets till I guess the guys singing passed out the next day.

Some guy was walking around with this sack and hitting people. He hit me too and said it was good luck... I think he liked hitting people and needed a reason maybe? All in good fun though!

I was touched by more drunk people in four hours then I would prefer but otherwise it was a fantastic colourful time, there was a special feeling in the air and the streets were incredibly empty by two in the afternoon... weird.
