I think my bus journey to Champaner was the most random journey of my trip. When I got onto the bus in Jaipur I was heading to Ahmedabad, maybe spend the night hit the night market buy useless shit. Why not? I don’t know I guess I just had the urge for more buses after ten hours on a sleeper. So from Ahmedabad I headed to Baroda then to Champaner. Although I felt awful and smelly by the time I arrived I am glad I did it. I think my guesthouse doubled as the school for the village and this place was defiantly off the normal backpacker trail! The only restaurants were at the bus station and nothing was over 35 rupees! Amazing...
The reason to visit this little town is that it is a Unesco World Heritage Site. There are a ton of old mosques around to explore. I took a wander in the country side and came across quite a few. Silence and fresh air in India, so treasured... Wounding your self, which I did, in the middle of nowhere not so much.
On my second day I took the pilgrimage up to Pavagadh which has a temple dedicated to Kali, I believe she is the badass looking goddess who wears a skull necklace and is also an incarnation of Shiva’s wife. I could spend so much time trying to wrap my head around Hinduism and still not get this stuff straight. Its fun trying though!
Sick

After a threeish hours mission up and down to the temple I caught another bus back to Baroda. Fucked around for four hours and then caught a local bus to Dui... twelve hours, and roads that I wish all those lovely people who used to complained to me daily about Edmonton roads could take a little drive on. Worth though... oh yeaa
